There is no fantastic sizing, but you both need to have small enough in which they cannot get their beaks in, or big enough to allow them to get them out. I am applying 1" x 1" currently and it works Okay. The smaller sized dimensions of wire can result in some birds breaking the ideas of their beaks off, when a dimension of say, 1" x 2" will allow
